Best Of The Week!

Match Of The Week - Hikaru Shida vs Tay Conti - AEW Women’s Championship- AEW Dynamite (Chris/Ruthie's pick)

The best we can say is we both applauded once the bell rang and the match was over. The women’s wrestling in AEW has had its critics in the past but, after Britt Baker/Thunder Rosa last month and now this match, no one can argue it hasn’t turned a corner this year. Tay Conti has been one of the shining stars recently for not only the women’s division but also the whole company. She’s earned her title opportunity and brought it to Shida in his back and forth, edge of your seat contest we both instantly loved. 

Gem Of The Week - Eddie Edwards vs Eric Young -Impact (Chris/Ruthie's pick)

We debated about whether to class this match as a ‘gem’ with it being the main event of the show but with no major promotion and no real expectations to be quite as good as it was, screw it we’re putting these two Impact legends here! Bringing a tonne of effort and no doubt using their many years of experience, these two stalwarts surprised us with the quality match they can still put on. False finishes and drama aplenty, well done to these two veterans for bringing it in this Impact main event.

Promo Of The Week - Aleister Black ‘Dragon’ promo - WWE Smackdown (Chris/Ruthie's pick)

With a week full of average promos we were starting to give up, however, two promos really stood out.MJF’s promo and Aleister Black. MJF’s promo was good as usual, however, Black took promos to a whole new level. The dark atmosphere, and dark storytelling is like nothing we’ve really seen on the big shows like Smackdown. The shadow muppet animation and the satanic connotations really added to a gripping and sinister promo. We sat watching, blown away by this new Aleister Black wondering where this story is going, and who or what is Aleister Black? You will have to check the video out and see what you think...

Move Of The Week - The Witch’s Shot - Hiraku Shida vs Tay Conti - AEW Dynamite (Chris/Ruthie's pick)

Absolutely brutal move out of nowhere by Shida! The Witch’s Shot (cool name) as she calls it made us both say ‘ouch’ as she stands on the second rope of the turnbuckle with Conti on her shoulders before flipping her onto the top buckle spine first. Conti, who must be in some pain, falls straight to the outside and Shida looks like a total badass in the process. Big fan of The Witch’s Shot!

WOW! MOMENT OF THE WEEK - Riddle beats Randy Orton! - WWE RAW (Chris/Ruthie's pick)

Brooooooooooooooo! Maybe it’s just us but was everyone else really expecting the ultimate bro Riddle to cleanly pin WWE legend Randy Orton? It certainly took us by surprise and is something Vince & Co. should do more often if they want to get more of the younger stars over. While they’re at it we’d also like them to start to move away from the more childlike aspects of Riddle’s characters, but for now a big win like this is a step in the right direction. Refreshing to see, don’t let this be a one off WWE!

Show Of The Week- AEW Dynamite (Chris/Ruthie's pick)

Kind of Dynamite by default this week. Was a good show by the AEW brand this week but could have possibly been outdone by another brand if someone else had stepped up their game. Dynamite had some great promos and really good matches in Shida/Conti and Darby Allin/Jungle Boy and is worth checking out. We were kind of disappointed in the efforts of NXT and Imapct though this week, hopefully they step it up again soon.
